Prattville's Austin Golson has enrolled at Auburn.

DESTIN, Fla. -- Former Prattville star and Ole Miss starting tackle Austin Golson has enrolled at Auburn and will walk-on to the team this summer.

"He is enrolled and started summer school," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said before his Tiger Trek stop in Fort Walton Beach, Florida on Tuesday. "He's walking on and he'll have an opportunity just like anybody else would."

Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze announced Golson, who started 12 games as true freshman for the Rebels last season, was transferring to Auburn in a statement last week.

Golson, a former U.S. Army All-American, told Ole Miss reporters he wanted to be clsoer to home to be near his ill grandparents. He will not be eligible to play until 2015 unless he were granted a hardship waiver, similar to what former Auburn H-back Jay Prosch received when he transferred from Illinois in 2012.

A former four-star prospect, Golson joins an Auburn offensive line that returns four starters and several key backups.

His situation is not dissimilar to that of senior running back Corey Grant, whose career began at Alabama and began as a walk-on on the Plains before being placed on scholarship.

"Corey Grant was very similar," Malzahn said. "(Grant) came back, walked on, earned his right on the field."

Auburn is losing Shane Callahan though, Malzahn announced Tuesday, as the Colorado native is transferring closer to home.
