AUBURN — Auburn’s leading receiver will get a chance to play in front of National Football League scouts and player personnel executives.

Tigers senior receiver Tony Stevens accepted an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Stevens led Auburn (8-4) in receptions (29), receiving yards (466), and touchdowns (3) despite missing two games this season with an undisclosed injury. In the first six games of the 2016 season, Stevens had 24 receptions for 408 yards and three touchdowns as his first year as a starter in the Tigers program. His final season was obviously his best campaign after the former four-star prospect from Orlando, Florida was recruited by former Auburn assistant Dameyune Craig to be a premier target.

“He’s probably more consistent now than he ever has been in his career,” Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee said about Stevens on Oct. 16. “He’s made a lot of first-down catches, touchdown catches, situationally specific catches that have been big for us.”

In his previous three seasons, Stevens has a total of 20 catches and has never had more than two receptions in a single game against a Southeastern Conference opponent.

The East-West Shrine Game will take place on Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. CT on NFL Network. More than 70 players from last year’s game made final NFL opening week rosters.
