AUBURN -- Senior Brandon King saw his first action on defense this season in Saturday's win.

Auburn defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson said King played "about seven snaps" as a linebacker in the "Cinco" package and had one misalignment but did well otherwise.

"Looking back at the film, he really played well," Johnson said. "He's one of the best tacklers on the team, he's extremely fast, he's physical. He just struggled (in the secondary) with some of the things you have to do as a deep safety."

King matched a career-high with three tackles. His previous play, including both tackles, were on special teams this season.

Johnson hopes to play the 6-foot-2 213 pound King at linebacker and will use the open week following the Mississippi State game to see if the position move can be made.

"We'll see," Johnson said. "It's going to take a while before he can learn that."
