C.J. Uzomah named to John Mackey Award Watch List

C.J. Uzomah was named to the John Mackey Award Watch List.

AUBURN -- Tigers tight end C.J. Uzomah was among the 40 players named to the John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List on Tuesday.

Given annually to the most outstanding college tight end, the Mackey Award recipient is selected by vote of the John Mackey Award selection committee, with the winner to be announced on Dec. 10 and then presented live on Dec. 11 at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show on ESPNU.

Uzomah had 11 receptions for 154 yards and three touchdowns last season, including the game-winning catch against Mississippi State.

As he enters his senior season, Uzomah is Auburn's projected starting tight end.

The midseason Watch List on will be released Oct. 13, semi-finalists on Nov. 17, and the finalists on Nov. 24.

Presented since 2000, the John Mackey Award lists thirteen alumni to have played in the NFL.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins won the award last season.
