DOTHAN -- There could soon be a resolution to the status of Anthony Swain's status with the Auburn football program.

During his Tiger Trek stop at the National Peanut Festival Fairground on Wednesday, Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said there has been "no change" to the situation with Swain, who did not take part in spring practice for undisclosed reasons.

However, with Auburn holding finals this week a decision could be made as early as next week.

"I think it should be fairly quick," Malzahn said, when asked if he'd know more after finals were complete.

Swain made 26 tackles and recovered a fumble last season, appearing as mostly the fourth linebacker.

The Gadsden native, who was not available for interviews this spring, will be a junior in the fall. He lost 10 pounds since last fall, weighing it at 6-foot-2 and 249 pounds.

Auburn defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson did not know whether Swain would return for the fall, when he was asked last Friday.

"Don't know," Johnson said. "That's not my answer."

Swain was most well known for a controversial moment during the Arkansas game last season during which he suddenly fell to the turf after several idle moments.
