Justin Garrett was granted a waiver for an additional year of eligibility after playing in just two games last season due to injury

HOOVER -- Two Tigers who suffered season-ending injuries last year were both granted an additional year of eligibility.

Wide receiver Jaylon Denson and linebacker Justin Garrett "were granted their medical hardships for an extra year," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said during SEC Media Days on Monday.

Denson tore his patellar tendon during the opening drive of the LSU game. The 6-foot-3 218 pound junior had three catches for 45 yards prior to his injury.

After a stellar spring at the "star" safety position in spring 2013, Garrett suffered a foot stress fracture during fall camp, returned for two games, and then suffered a Lisfranc injury to his other foot. He finished with four tackles in two games.

The 6-foot-1 224 pound junior returned to form during spring practice and is expected to play behind Robenson Therezie at "star" and as the Dime backer.
