AUBURN -- Tigers backup guard Dion Wade is transferring to Miami (Ohio) University and Auburn is now within the NCAA scholarship limit for the fall.

Wade averaged three points and 1.3 rebounds in 10.9 minutes while appearing in 30 games as a true freshman last season. He had ACL surgery in June and was expected to miss the upcoming season, during which he'll now sit out per NCAA transfer rules.

RedHawkInsider was the first to report Wade's transfer.

The Antwerp, Belgium native shot 31.5 percent from the floor and 29.9 percent from 3-point range last season.

Wade is the third player recruited or signed by Tony Barbee to leave the program since Bruce Pearl took over.

Benas Griciunas transferred to Charlotte and Sam Logwood was granted a release from his National Letter of Intent last week after failing to qualify academically.

Wade's departure brings Auburn within the NCAA scholarship limit for the upcoming season.
