Tyler Nero's status with Auburn is still undetermined.

DESTIN, Fla. -- The status of defensive lineman Tyler Nero with the Auburn football program remains undetermined more than 50 days after he was hospitalized after collapsing during a spring practice.

"Still not for sure about Tyler Nero," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said before his Tiger Trek stop in Fort Walton Beach, Florida on Tuesday. "(He's) getting tests, stuff like that."

Nero, a 6-foot-2 300-pound junior, collapsed due to undisclosed reasons during Auburn's spring practice on March 27, 54 days ago. He was transported by ambulance to the East Alabama Medical Center and was released the next day.

The Atmore native returned to the practice field two days later but did not fully participate in any of the remaining 10 spring practices, including the A-Day game.

Nero, who was not available for interviews after the incident, had just one tackle while appearing in one game, against Western Carolina, last season after redshirting in 2012.
