Jonathon Mincy named to Lott IMPACT Trophy watch list

AUBURN -- Tigers senior cornerback Jonathon Mincy was among the 42 players named to the Lott IMPACT Trophy watch list on Wednesday.

Mincy had 56 tackles with 14 pass breakups while playing field corner in all 14 games for the Tigers last season. He also co-hosted the annual AUSPYs awards show on campus.

The East Atlanta native will enter this season as a third-year starter and in the running for the defensive captain role.

Eight SEC athletes were named to the watch list for the trophy, named for legendary USC and San Francisco 49ers defensive back Ronnie Lott, which gives equal weight to personal character as well as athletic performance by a defensive college player.

UCLA's Anthony Barr won the trophy last year.
