AUBURN -- Tigers kicking specialist Daniel Carlson was named the SEC Freshman of the Week for his performance in No. 6 Auburn's 45-21 win over Arkansas on Saturday.

In his first career start, Carlson handled kickoffs, punts and field goals for Auburn in near-perfect form.

Carlson averaged 53.3 yards on three punts, including a 62-yarder - the longest for an Auburn player since 2006, with two inside the 20. He was 1-for-2 of field goals, making a 45-yard attempt to make it 38-21 before the game was suspended with 9:55 to go, and was 6-for-6 on PATs.

Seven of Carlson's eight kickoffs went for touchback.

Carlson is the first Auburn specialist to be recognized as the SEC Freshman of the Week.

Auburn players were recognized as the SEC Freshman of the Week three times in 2013, with Carl Lawson winning for his performance against Ole Miss, and Jeremy Johnson being honored for his outings against Western Carolina and Florida Atlantic.
