Former Marshall point guard Kareem Canty has committed to Auburn for the second time after decommitting last month and committing to South Florida.

AUBURN --Kareem Canty has committed to Auburn - again.

The former Marshall point guard originally committed to the Tigers on April 19 but backtracked the next day and then committed to South Florida, but he has changed his mind again and will come to Auburn, according to a report by ESPN.

Canty averaged 16.3 points and 5.5 assists as a freshman with the Thundering Herd last season. He has three years of eligibility remaining after sitting out this upcoming season.

Auburn returns point guard Tahj Shamsid-Deen and backup Malcolm Canada next season, though Canada completes his eligibility after next season. The Tigers also have a commitment from New Mexico's K.C. Ross-Miller, who will be eligible to play immediately and has just one year of eligibility remaining.

Canty is the fourth player to commit, though for the second time, or sign with Auburn since Bruce Pearl and his staff arrived, despite Pearl's NCAA show-cause penalty being a burden on the recruiting trail.

McGill-Toolen's T.J. Lang signed with Auburn last month, just one day after committing, and junior college forward Cinmeon Bowers committed in April.

As of last week Pearl was not expecting any attrition, but if all of the new commitments and both signees (Sam Logwood and Jack Purchase, who has arrived on campus) are cleared, Auburn will be over the limit on scholarships.

"Yeah it's a possibility," he said during the SEC Spring Meetings in Destin, Florida. "I don't anticipate it, but it's a possibility."
