AUBURN -- Patrick Miller went undrafted this weekend but signed with the San Francisco 49ers, according to a source.

The former Auburn right tackle was advised not to leave early and enter the NFL Draft, but his heart was not in staying in college.

"I was a little taken back but that's part of the business," Auburn offensive line coach J.B. Grimes said. "Guy that feels like he's ready and he makes that decision that I'm going to support."

Miller did not receive an invite to the NFL Combine but took part in Auburn's Pro Day, posting a 106-inch broad jump, 27.5-inch vertical and 16 bench reps, very low for an offensive lineman, though the 6-foot-6 Miller has very long arms.

Miller started 20 games over three seasons, including six last year. He missed time in 2013 due to a failed drug test the summer before the season and an ankle injury last year cost him time.

"The question I have, and there's no question in my ind this time next year if Pat had stayed that I would be touting him as a guy, but I'm not sure thay've have enough information on Pat," Grimes said. "That would be my biggest question. I am not an NFL guy but do they have enough information on him to give him money to play football?"
