Auburn defensive end Elijah Daniel was arrested on theft and burglary charges.

AUBURN -- Elijah Daniel, who was among three men arrested earlier this week in connection with a series of burglaries and thefts from an Auburn dormitory, was dismissed from the football program on Saturday,

"I have decided to dismiss Elijah Daniel from our team," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said in a statement. "My hope is that he will learn from this situation."

Daniel, former football walk-on DeNorris James and former track and field walk-on Khalil Sellers were arrested Wednesday night on four counts of theft of property and four counts of burglary. Six of the eight charges are felonies.

Several thefts of "various electronic devices and jewelry" were reported at the South Donahue Residence Hall on March 29, according to Auburn Police, who say they recovered electronics and jewelry reported stolen in the burglaries after searching several residences.

Daniel, a junior, had 15 tackles with 3 1/2 for loss and 17 hurries last season.

The Indianapolis, Indiana native was a former Under Armour All-American and a consensus top-10 defensive end in the 2013 recruiting class.
