AUBURN -- Tigers backup linebacker Anthony Swain and punter Jimmy Hutchinson are no longer with the program, according to multiple reports.

AuburnSports.com was the first to report the departures of Swain, who had 18 tackles with one sack last season, and Hutchinson, who had just nine punts as a redshirt-freshman last season.

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn would not say what Swain's status was as of Tuesday.

"I'm going to update our roster, our spring roster, next Tuesday so I'm going to wait until then," Malzahn said. "I'll give you all the updates, not just with him, with other people too."

Swain missed last year's spring practice for unspecified reasons.

Hutchinson was expected to have to compete for the punting job this offseason after Auburn signed Ian Shannon and teams rarely carry multiple underclassmen kickers on scholarship.

"Well he's going to have to compete for the job, just like any other position," Malzahn said of Hutchinson on National Signing Day.
