AUBURN -- In his first few days on the job Will Muschamp has captured the attention of his new players and colleagues.

Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee had never met Muschamp prior to his arrival in Auburn on Saturday, but got off to a good start.

"I already really enjoy working with him," Lashlee said. "I'm looking forward to it."

Muschamp has been observing Auburn's practices this week as it prepares for No. 18 Wisconsin in the Outback Bowl.

Safeties coach Charlie Harbison will call the defense in the bowl game, after which Muschamp is expected to make decisions on his staff and begin planning the overhaul of Auburn's defense.

"You can tell by the way he's putting things together already. He's a very seasoned veteran, obviously knows what he's doing," Lashlee said. "Great energy, I think our kids are already hanging on the edge of everything he says, and they're very excited. Of course, we're in a weird transition, we're getting ready for a bowl and all that, but still, it's been really good, and I think he's going to be really excellent."
